Laparoscopic Hysterectomy was done in Atatürk State Hospital by Obstetrician and Gynecologist Surgeon Ozan Doğan for the first time.
Surgeon Doğan gave information on the operation and said, "In the laparoscopic hysterectomy operation, the intra-abdominal organs are viewed by using an optical device called 'laparoscope' inserted through a small incision made in the navel, and the ovaries and the uterus are removed with the help of thin surgical instruments. As is known, in contrast to the operation area pain, large scar, and long recuperation periods observed in the open hysterectomy operations, the laparoscopic hysterectomy operations eliminate such disadvantages and also shorten the operation period and hospitalization duration. The patient can be discharged the next day. After the operations performed by using this method, the patients can go back to work within 2 weeks. For many patients, the operation does not take longer than 1 hour, and the blood loss is very little. Since the postoperative pain is very little, there is no need for the painkillers used in the conventional surgery."
